Industry Background

Why Commercial Kitchens Need ESP Purification

Cooking Fumes Are a Serious Health & Safety Risk

Kitchen exhaust contains grease particles, PM2.5, VOCs, and carcinogenic compounds that cause respiratory issues, lung damage, and weakened immunity for kitchen staff. Grease accumulation in ductwork is also the #1 cause of commercial kitchen fires.

Regulatory Compliance Is Mandatory

Cities worldwide enforce strict emission standards for commercial kitchens. Failure to comply results in fines, forced closures, and lawsuits from neighbors. An LK-E ESP system is the most effective way to meet EPA, EU, and local regulations.

  • Eliminates 90–98% of grease, smoke, and oil mist
  • Prevents grease buildup in ductwork — reduces fire risk
  • Meets EPA, EU, and local emission regulations
  • Protects kitchen staff from harmful fume exposure
  • Eliminates neighbor complaints about smoke and odor
  • Washable cells — no disposable filter waste

Installation Guide

Flexible Installation for Any Kitchen Environment

LK-E units support multiple installation methods to fit your building and ductwork requirements.

Rooftop LK-E Installation

Rooftop Installation

Both ESP and ductwork on the rooftop. Saves indoor space. The sealed enclosure handles outdoor weather conditions.

Indoor Ceiling-Mounted LK-E Installation

Indoor Ceiling-Mounted

Install the LK-E indoors at ceiling level; exhaust ductwork routes to the rooftop. Protects the unit from weather, with easy maintenance access.

Outdoor Ground-Level LK-E Installation

Outdoor Ground-Level

LK-E placed at ground level outside the building, connected to the exhaust duct. Ideal when rooftop access is limited.

📐 Installation Requirements
  • About 0.75 m service clearance on the maintenance side for drawer-style ESP cell removal
  • UV and CB drawer modules require about 1 m clearance for lamp / cartridge removal
  • Standard flange connections — compatible with rectangular ductwork
  • Supports single, two-layer and three-layer stacking, plus horizontal combination
  • Configure as ESP-only, ESP + UV, or ESP + UV + CB
  • Input: 220V/50Hz for all standard models
  • No hood replacement needed — LK-E connects directly to the existing duct system

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about the Polygee LK-E Series electrostatic precipitator for commercial kitchen exhaust.

What is the LK-E Series electrostatic precipitator?

The LK-E Series is Polygee’s engineering-grade in-duct ESP platform for commercial kitchen exhaust. Installed within the ductwork, it uses a high-voltage dual-zone plate-type electrostatic field to ionize and capture grease, smoke and oil mist. It comes in three grades — LK-E0 (≥90%), LK-E1 (≥95%) and LK-E2 (≥98%) — covering airflow from 3,000 to 40,000 m³/h, with an optional ESP + UV + CB odor-control upgrade.

What is the difference between LK-E0, LK-E1 and LK-E2?

The three grades differ in purification efficiency and capacity. LK-E2 targets ≥98% with higher collection capacity (34 Pa, 112–924 W) for dense smoke and stricter emission projects. LK-E1 targets ≥95% with the lowest pressure drop (23 Pa, 56–462 W) for daily heavy-use kitchens. LK-E0 targets ≥90% (31 Pa, 56–462 W) as a cost-effective standard option with the widest airflow range up to 40,000 m³/h. All three share the same dual-zone plate-type ESP cell and digital power pack.

Can LK-E be combined with UV and activated-carbon modules?

Yes. LK-E can be configured as ESP only, ESP + UV, or ESP + UV + CB. The UV photolysis module helps decompose cooking odor and VOCs, while the activated-carbon (CB) module adsorbs residual smells and gas-phase pollutants — ideal for rooftop exhaust near offices, homes and mixed-use buildings.

How often do the ESP cells need to be cleaned?

Cleaning frequency depends on cooking volume and oil type. For heavy cooking (Chinese wok, BBQ), we recommend cleaning every 2–4 weeks; for lighter cooking (Western, café), every 4–8 weeks. The drawer-style collector cells slide out easily and can be cleaned by soaking in alkaline degreaser or running through a commercial dishwasher. They are fully washable and reusable — no disposable filter cost.

Can the LK-E be retrofitted to an existing kitchen exhaust system?

Yes. LK-E units connect directly to existing rectangular ductwork via standard flange connections — no hood replacement is necessary. The modular design supports rooftop, indoor ceiling-mounted, and outdoor ground-level installation. A typical retrofit takes 4–8 hours during off-peak hours, and our engineering team provides free system design and layout support.

How much maintenance space is required?

About 0.75 m of service clearance on the maintenance side is recommended for the LK-E ESP equipment, so the drawer-style cells can be removed. UV and CB drawer modules require about 1 m of clearance for lamp or cartridge removal.

What is the pressure drop of LK-E units?

Pressure drop is very low across the LK-E range — 23 Pa for LK-E1, 31 Pa for LK-E0, and 34 Pa for LK-E2. This minimal resistance means little additional load on the exhaust fan, which translates to lower energy consumption and quieter operation.

What certifications and warranty does Polygee offer?

Polygee ESP products hold CE (Europe), UL (North America), RoHS, CCEP, and CQC certifications, and the company is ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certified. The LK-E Series carries an 18-month whole-unit warranty, backed by technical service, training, on-site support and after-sales procedures. As a BSE-listed company (920802) with 179 patents and a 100,000+ m² production base, Polygee also provides full OEM/ODM customization.
